Definition of PCB terminal blocks: Terminal blocks used in electrical connections of printed circuit boards are known in the industry as PCB terminal blocks or PCB connectors. They are accessory products used to achieve electrical connections. A standard PCB has no components on it and is often referred to as a "Printed Wiring Board (PWB)".


Scope of Application

Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) are indispensable components in almost all electronic devices we can see. They range from small gadgets like electronic watches, calculators and basic computers to large-scale equipment such as mainframe computers, communication electronics and military weapon systems. As long as there are electronic components like integrated circuits (ICs), PCBs are required to realize the electrical interconnection between these components.

In addition to fixing various small parts, PCBs provide mechanical support for the fixed assembly of ICs and other electronic components; they enable wiring and electrical connection or insulation between these components; and they deliver the required electrical characteristics such as characteristic impedance. Meanwhile, PCBs offer solder mask patterns for automatic soldering, and provide identification characters and graphics for component insertion, inspection and maintenance. As electronic devices become increasingly sophisticated, the number of required components continues to grow, leading to denser circuits and parts on PCBs and higher integration levels.



Types

Depending on the specific requirements of different companies, PCB terminals can be categorized into pluggable terminal blocks, screw terminal blocks, spring terminal blocks and barrier terminal blocks. However, the naming conventions for specific models vary across different enterprises.

Pluggable Terminal Blocks

This product series is available in a wide range of specifications, with common pin pitches of 3.5mm, 3.81mm, 5.0mm, 5.08mm, 7.5mm and 7.62mm, and pole counts ranging from 2 to 24. Matching sockets with screw fixing are available to achieve vibration-resistant connections. The plugs adopt side-entry connection technology, meaning the screw direction is perpendicular to the wire entry direction.



Screw Terminal Blocks

Screw terminal blocks boast advantages such as easy wiring, compact and stable structure, and reliable screw connection. They utilize a screw structure for wire crimping to ensure secure wiring with large wire capacity. The solder pins and wire clamping bodies are designed as two separate parts, preventing the torque from tightening the screw from being transmitted to the solder joints and causing damage. The shell is sturdy and durable, with precise pin pitches.



Spring Terminal Blocks

Common pin pitches of spring terminal blocks include 2.54mm, 3.50mm, 5.00mm, 7.50mm and 7.62mm. Solid-core wires can be directly inserted without the assistance of a lever, while smaller gauge wires can be clamped by opening the clip with a lever. Models without push buttons allow for a significant reduction in height. For wire removal, simply press down with a screwdriver to easily take out the wire. Most spring terminal blocks are assembled piece by piece. This wiring method is extremely suitable for communication systems, lighting systems, monitoring systems and building wiring. With various wiring directions, they facilitate assembly in confined spaces, allow for flexible combination of pole counts, feature easy operation, and are ideal for high-density wiring requirements.



Barrier Terminal Blocks

Barrier terminal blocks feature a simple structure with a panel-type wire crimping method that is intuitive and firm. The commonly applicable wire diameter range is 0.5 mm² - 6 mm².
